Aden Energies has officially launched a distributed solar photovoltaic (PV) project at Guangdong Technology College in Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province. Spanning the College’s Gaoyao and Dinghu campuses, the project will have a planned installed capacity of approximately 8.34 MWp, transforming underutilized rooftop spaces into a source of clean, renewable energy to support daily campus operations.
Unlocking rooftop potential across two campuses
Guangdong Technology College is a higher education institution known for its focus on engineering, technology, and applied learning. The solar PV project will be implemented across both campuses, with approximately 5.34 MWp planned for the Gaoyao campus and 3.00 MWp for the Dinghu campus.
The installation will utilize rooftops across a wide range of campus facilities, including academic buildings, student residences, dining halls, sports centers, and libraries. Drawing on the specific characteristics of each rooftop, Aden Energies will apply tailored design and installation solutions to maximize solar generation while maintaining harmony with the campus environment and operational needs.
Designing for local conditions and long-term value
Campus buildings often vary significantly in structure, energy demand, and rooftop conditions. To address these differences, Aden Energies will carry out a comprehensive system design covering PV array configuration, grid connection, and energy consumption optimization across both campuses. The goal is to seamlessly integrate renewable energy infrastructure into existing buildings and energy systems.
Based on preliminary project assessments, more than 80% of the electricity generated is expected to be consumed directly on-site at both campuses. This will allow clean energy to support a wide range of everyday activities, from teaching and student accommodation to dining, sports, and other operational functions.
By making productive use of existing rooftop assets, the project not only provides a reliable source of renewable energy but also enhances the overall value of campus infrastructure, turning rooftops into long-term contributors to sustainability and operational efficiency.
Advancing renewable energy solutions for the built environment
The Guangdong Technology College project marks another important milestone in Aden Energies’ efforts to expand distributed renewable energy solutions across a diverse range of building environments. Leveraging its expertise in distributed energy systems, Aden Energies continues to help organizations unlock the potential of their buildings while supporting their transition toward lower-carbon operations.
Looking ahead, Aden Energies will continue collaborating with partners across education, industry, and urban sectors to unlock the potential of existing buildings and deliver practical, scalable clean energy solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future.
